Carnival Glory which was damaged after colliding with another Carnival cruise ship will have a delayed departure for the next scheduled cruise and altered call.
Carnival Glory Cruise Altered
Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the next scheduled Carnival Glory cruise departing New Orleans on December 22 will depart later and change the call at Cozumel. The Conquest-class cruise ship was damaged yesterday morning after colliding with Carnival Legend in Cozumel, Mexico. You can read our original post about the collision right here.
Carnival Glory hit her fellow Carnival ship at the aft section on decks 3 and 4 where the dining room is located. The Carnival Legend which was docked at the time had damage to the bow section. There have been plenty of posts on social media of passengers catching the moment the ships hit and the aftermath.
You can read the full details which were posted by Carnival Cruise Line:
Dear Carnival Glory Guest,
We are looking forward to welcoming you on Carnival Glory tomorrow and want to provide you with an update on your cruise, following the accident that took place yesterday in Cozumel.
The ship is on its way to New Orleans and will dock tomorrow morning to operate your cruise. With the exception of a section in the aft Platinum Dining Room, all features are operating and all activities will be offered, including the Christmas dinner menu we know our guests love.
Our team is working hard to complete weather-proofing and cosmetic work to the damaged area in the aft restaurant and this will require that we depart at midnight on Sunday.
Please push back your Arrival Appointment by two hours and make plans to arrive within your new time (i.e., if your Arrival Appointment was 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, please arrive at 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM). All guests must be on board by 5:00 PM. Please note, our call to Cozumel will now be moved to Friday, instead of Tuesday (tours will be automatically adjusted to the new day).Given the impact to the aft restaurant, we will have to make some adjustments to our dining plan for next week’s cruise. Some guests who requested assigned dining will have to move to “Your Time Dining.” (Guests on ‘Your Time’ open seating may dine any time in the Main Dining Room between 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Guests are seated on a first come, first served basis depending on party size.) Our team on board will do everything possible to accommodate affected guests to minimize any impact. Guests being moved will be contacted directly via separate email prior to boarding.
In the event we have additional information to share, please sign up for text alerts by texting CCL1 to 278473 (CRUISE).
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare for your arrival. We are committed to ensuring you have a fun and memorable cruise! Please have fun and please make sure you sign up for the text alert
The Carnival Glory remains seaworthy and the cruise line has said work is being done to make the damaged area watertight along with cosmetic work. However, this will mean the ship will be departing the Port of New Orleans much later at around Midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. The ship was originally scheduled to depart at around 3:30 PM.
Guests are being asked to arrive at the New Orleans terminal two hours later and everyone must be on board no later than 5:00 PM. The aft dining room remains operational and guests will still be able to enjoy their much anticipated Christmas dinner during their Carnival Christmas cruise.
It also means the ship will no longer be calling at Cozumel as normal on December 24. The vessel will instead be visiting the Mexican port on Friday, December 27. The cruise line will be adjusting all shore excursions accordingly to the new day.
