Two Planes From China Land At Logan, Hours Before Flight Ban Kicks In - KFI AM 640

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massport officials confirm that two planes from China have landed at Boston's Logan Airport on Sunday afternoon, hours before a flight ban on all arrivals from China is meant to take effect. Boston is not one of the seven U.S. locations designated to accept planes from China after 5 p.m. EST on Sunday.

This comes two days after the Trump Administration declared the Coronavirus a public health emergency, implementing near-total flight bans on planes from China.

Both planes are Hainan Airlines flights; one from Shanghai was landed around 1:30 p.m. the other flight from Beijing landed around 1:45 p.m.

According to WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas, passengers on those flights were screened before getting on their flight, once in the air, and just before landing.

The seven airports meant to take in all flights from China are; JFK International (NY), Chicago O'Hare (IL), San Francisco International (CA), LAX (CA), Daniel K. Inouye International (HI), Seattle-Tacoma International (WA), and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (GA).

This story has corrected the time the flight ban goes into effect.
