President Donald Trump’s official campaign Twitter account couldn’t beat the NFL. Twitter deleted a video from Trump’s campaign account Monday that featured Trump superimposed in an NFL highlight.
If that sounds like word salad, allow us to try and explain. The Trump campaign account tweeted out a highlight of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk scoring a rushing touchdown during Sunday’s 25-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. In the clip, Aiyuk hurdles over an Eagles defender at the 5-yard line before landing in the end zone.
The Trump team took that footage and superimposed Trump’s head on Aiyuk’s body. Then they put a picture of the coronavirus on the Eagles’ defender. When played, the video showed Trump hurdling the coronavirus.
While that video is no longer up, you can imagine what it looked like by viewing the original highlight.

Trump revealed he tested positive for the coronavirus on Oct. 1. He was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, and he left the hospital to return to the White House Monday.
Trump tweet removed for copyright
The Trump campaign tweet is still up, though no video is contained in the post. Instead, the message “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner” shows up. It’s unclear who filed the copyright claim on the video. The Trump campaign, the NFL and the 49ers did not respond to USA Today when asked for comment.
As some fans pointed out, it may not have been wise for the Trump campaign to send out the video. While the highlight was impressive, the 49ers wound up losing the game.
