
NAPERVILLE, IL — Apple announced it is closing all of its brick and mortar stores outside of China through at least March 27, including all locations in Illinois, to help stop the spread of coronavirus. "This global effort — to protect the most vulnerable, to study this virus, and to care for the sick — requires all of our care, and all of our participation," the company said in a statement Friday.
There are nine Apple stores in Illinois:
Apple said while all its stores in China have reopened, all stores outside greater China will close, but online stores and the app store remain open.

The company said its donations to treat those sick with coronavirus and help lessen economic impact have totaled $15 million so far. "We're also announcing that we are matching our employee donations two-to-one to support COVID-19 response efforts locally, nationally and internationally," the company said in a statement.
In Illinois, Gov. J.B. Pritzker ordered the shutdown of all Illinois schools through at least March 30, with many districts saying they will provide instruction through e-learning.
All Illinois tollbooths are also closed, and drivers will need to pay online or use an I-PASS to pay their tolls.
