MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Nebraska men's gymnastics team claimed five All-America honors and a fourth-place finish Saturday night at the NCAA Championship Finals. The Huskers performance was highlighted by a fourth-place finish on vault by Charlie Giles.
Charlie Giles earned All-America honors on pommel horse and vault. Taylor Christopulos tied for fifth on vault to earn All-America honors. Evan Kriley and Mitch Tyndall finished in fourth and fifth on pommel horse to earn All-America honors.
Stanford took home the team title after notching a 414.521. Oklahoma came in second with a 411.591 while Michigan finished in third with a 410.358. Minnesota finished in the fifth spot with a 406.291 while Illinois came in sixth with a 397.991.
First Rotation
The Huskers started the first rotation on parallel bars. Junior Dylan LeClair started NU off matching his career-high score of 13.60. Junior Evan Kriley followed with a new career-high score of 13.70. Sophomore Dylan Young followed earning a 13.70, a new career high. Senior Evan Hymanson earned a 12.96 while junior Dillan King notched a 13.30. Freshman Taylor Christopulos, competing in the all-around, earned a career-high score of 13.06.
NU earned a 67.260 team score for the first rotation. The Huskers went into the second rotation in third place behind Stanford (73.432) and Oklahoma (72.965).
Second Rotation
NU moved to high bar where they finished with a team score of 65.53. Senior Griffin Kehler started the rotation off with a score of 13.10. Evan Hymanson followed with a 13.50. Taylor Christopulos earned a 12.066 while sophomore Sam Phillips notched a 13.50. Dillan King finished the rotation with a 13.36.
Nebraska went into the third rotation in sixth place behind Stanford (140.464), Minnesota (137.331), Oklahoma (126.129), Illinois (135.396) and Michigan (134.864).
Third Rotation
Junior Charlie Giles started Nebraska off on floor with a 14.26. Sophomore Moritz Mueller notched a career-high score of 14.23. Taylor Christopulos followed with a 13.73 while Sam Phillips earned a 13.93. Senior Jake Bonnay finished with a score of 14.30.
The Huskers went into the fourth rotation in fourth place with a score of 203.263 behind Stanford (208.395), Oklahoma (205.395) and Michigan (204.996).
Fourth Rotation
The Huskers competed on pommel horse where they earned a team score of
Charlie Giles started NU off with a 13.56. Senior Mitch Tyndall followed with a 13.66. Sophomore Khalil Jackson earned a 12.30 due to a fall. Evan Kriley notched a 13.70. Sophomore Cooper Giles finished the rotation with a 12.73 after losing one point due to a fall. Taylor Christopulos, competing in the all-around, earned a 11.40 after losing one point due to a fall.
NU went into the fifth rotation in fourth place with a score of 269.228 behind Stanford (279.093), Oklahoma (278.060) and Michigan (273.494).
Fifth Rotation
Nebraska competed on rings during the fifth rotation finishing with a team score of
Dylan LeClair started NU off with a score of 13.30. Mitch Tyndall, competing on rings for the first-time this year, followed with a 12.46. Dylan Young earned a 13.60 while sophomore Nikita Bolotsky notched a 12.76. Taylor Christopulos finished the rotation with a 13.16.
The Huskers went into the sixth rotation in sixth place with a score of 334.526 behind Oklahoma (344.759), Stanford (344.024), Michigan (338.759), Minnesota (339.459), and Illinois (335.359).
Sixth Rotation
Dylan LeClair started the rotation off on vault with a 14.35. Dylan Young followed with a 14.23. Evan Kriley notched a 14.13. Charlie Giles finished with a 14.70. Taylor Christopulos finished off the rotation with a 14.66.
The Huskers finished in fourth place with a 406.624.
Season Review
The Huskers finish the 2021 season 13-8 highlighted by a second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
