CHARLOTTE — The Panthers claimed three players off waivers following roster cuts on Saturday: defensive back Rasul Douglas, defensive end Shareef Miller, and offensive tackle Trent Scott.
The Eagles selected Douglas in the third round of the 2017 draft. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound cornerback played 46 games for Philadelphia, starting 18 over the last three seasons. In 2019 alone, Douglas started six games, recorded 10 passes defensed, and three tackles for loss. He has five career interceptions.
Miller was a fourth-round pick of the Eagles last year but made only one appearance as a rookie in Philadelphia's Week 8 victory over Buffalo. The Penn State product had two special teams snaps in that contest.
Scott played under Panthers offensive line coach Pat Meyer with the Chargers for the last two seasons, giving Scott immediate familiarity with Carolina's coaching staff. He originally signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State in 2018. Scott replaced an injured Russell Okung at left tackle for the first seven games of 2019, making nine total starts.
As corresponding roster moves, Carolina waived safety Kenny Robinson, defensive end Efe Obada, and offensive tackle Matt Kaskey. Robinson was a fifth-round pick in this spring's draft, Obada appeared in 26 games the past two seasons after emerging through the NFL's International Player Pathway program, and Kaskey spent most of last season on the Panthers' practice squad.
