With just over a week before pitchers and catchers report to spring training, the Minnesota Twins made a roster move Thursday.
Minnesota claimed outfielder Kyle Garlick off waivers from Atlanta. To make room on the roster, the Twins designated left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell for release or assignment.

Garlick, a 29-year-old right-handed hitter, has played 42 career games in the big leagues — 30 with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019 and 12 with Philadelphia last season. Garlick owns a .214/.276/.414 slash line, five doubles and three home runs over his MLB career.
A 28th-round pick by Philadelphia in 2015, Garlick logged a .288/.345/.536 slash line and 91 home runs over five minor-league seasons.
Waddell, who was claimed off waivers by the Twins in late October, made his MLB debut in 2020 for Pittsburgh. He made two appearances for the Pirates, allowing two hits and one run in 3 1/3 innings.
Minnesota’s spring training camp is set to open Feb. 19.
