Women Claim Victory While Men Loss Tight Battle In Swim Dual Meet at Willamette - Pacific University Athletics

After opening the season last weekend the Boxer men's and women's swim teams were in action again this past weekend and put together strong performances as they faced off with Willamette in a Northwest Conference dual meet. 

The Boxer women earned the win 118-89 over the Bearcats, while the men lost a tight battle falling 91-89 to Willamette as a team. 

Helping lead the way on the day for the women was Julianne Abrigonde who won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.10 winning by over seven seconds, won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.13, and placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:04.96. Madelyn Russell took first place in the 200-yard butterfly posting a time of 2:34.95, while Hannah Brandow won the 200-yard backstroke behind a time of 2:21.42. 

Joshua Joireman led the Boxer men against the Bearcats as he won three events. He took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.46, took first in the 100-yard breaststroke behind time of 1:08.38, and finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.56. Hung Huynh won a pair of events taking first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.42) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.99). Benjamin Jones won the 200-yard backstroke posting a time of 2:36.50.

Boxers are back in action with their first home competition of the season as they are set to host Linfield on Saturday, March 27th.
