Law360 (March 15, 2021, 11:25 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Monday whittled down the National Rifle Association's suit accusing New York authorities of pressuring banks and insurers not to do business with the group, but preserved First Amendment claims against Gov. Andrew Cuomo and a former New York banking regulator.

In a 43-page order, U.S. District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy ruled that the actions of Cuomo and Maria T. Vullo, the former superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, "could be interpreted as a veiled threat" encouraging regulated industries to cut ties with the NRA or "risk DFS enforcement action."
