Georgia Tech's Wright, NC State's Seabron Claim Final ACC MBB Player of the Week Honors - The ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the second consecutive week and third time this season, Georgia Tech senior forward Moses Wright is the ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while NC State guard Dereon Seabron is the ACC Freshman of the Week.
 
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
 
After being named ACC Player of the Year earlier today, Wright claims the final player of the week selection of the season after averaging 23.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in a pair of wins for the Yellow Jackets last week. He scored a game-high 29 points with 14 rebounds on 13-of-20 shooting in Georgia Tech’s 81-77 overtime win against Duke on Tuesday. Wright netted 18 of his points in the second half and overtime, while logging eight of his rebounds on the offensive end.
 
In the 75-63 win at Wake Forest on Friday, the Raleigh, North Carolina, native tallied 17 points to lead Georgia Tech to a fourth-place regular-season finish and double bye in the 68th annual New York Life ACC Tournament this week. Wright helped the Yellow Jackets extend their winning streak to six games - the longest for the program since 1995-96 - and a top-four finish in the conference, the highest finish since 2003-04.

Seabron becomes the second NC State player to earn ACC Freshman of the Week honors this season, as Shakeel Moore claimed the award on Dec. 28. In the Wolfpack’s lone game of the week, Seabron charted 17 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks - career highs for each - to lift NC State to an 80-69 win at Notre Dame.
 
It was the Norfolk, Virginia, native’s first career double-double as he shot 8-of-12 from the floor, also recording a career-high for field goals made. Seabron was at his best in the second half, scoring 11 points with nine rebounds.
 
The tournament begins Tuesday with three matchups. No. 12 Pitt (10-11, 6-10) takes on No. 13 Miami (8-16, 4-15) at 2 p.m., No. 10 Duke (11-11, 9-9) faces No. 15 Boston College (4-15, 2-11) at 4:30 p.m. and No. 11 Notre Dame (10-14, 7-11) plays No. 14 Wake Forest (6-15, 3-15) in the nightcap at 7 p.m. All three games will be televised by ACC Network.
